Media Release – Child care workers and those aged 55+

Published on

Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) informs the public that as of today, child care workers in licensed child care settings are eligible to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment. To book an appointment, child care workers who work directly with children can call 1-833-943-3900. “Eligible groups will be expanding quickly and I encourage child care workers to book their appointment right away to ensure they can get an appointment soon,” says Dr. Kit Young Hoon, Medical Officer of Health at NWHU.

In addition, as of April 30th, anyone aged 55 years and older will be eligible to book an appointment for their COVID-19 vaccine. People in that group can book online at www.ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by calling 1-833-943-3900.

In an announcement this afternoon, the Ministry of Health stated that by the end of May, all adults aged 18 years and older will be eligible to book an appointment. “This is great news for our area, it will streamline the booking process which will increase access for our residents. We look forward to seeing everyone at our clinics in the upcoming months,” says Dr. Young Hoon.
