Public Health Alert – Measles Ruled Out

Published on

Situation

Serology and PCR results for the probable measles case in Sioux Lookout are all NEGATIVE.

Suspicion for measles was based on dates of travel through Toronto and the development of symptoms consistent with measles in a timeframe that made measles a possibility. The possible case was too young to have received MMR vaccine. However, there was no known contact with a case of measles.

Public communication is in progress, and individuals who were known contacts will be called directly.

Actions requested

  • Communicate with affected individuals and families that risk has been ruled out
  • Continue to promote MMR vaccine
