  • Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Director of Health Protection and working in a collegial/collaborative relationship with the Management team, is responsible for the effective leadership, management and supervision of assigned program(s), leadership of Sexual Health, Harm Reduction programs and related service delivery provided to the public in accordance with the provincial legislation and the Northwestern Health Unit Policies.
    As a member of the Management team, the Manager of Sexual Health and Harm Reduction (SH/HR) contributes to excellence in the leadership of the organization and participates with other managers in the planning and decision making processes aiming at enhancing the delivery of services provided. The Manager will liaise with and connect among Managers of Sexual Health and Harm Reduction at other public health units and Ministry program leads through regular, recurring group meetings and ad hoc meetings. The Manager will contribute to the integration of professional practice, education and research to promote evidence-based programs and services and a continuous quality improvement approach.
    The Manager is responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of the programs and services under their supervision. The Manager is responsible for the management of human, physical, material, and financial resources as well as ensuring the quality of care and services provided.   • Qualifications:
    • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
    • A Master’s degree in Public Health or a healthcare related field of study is an asset.
    • Leadership training.
    • A minimum of seven years related experience, inclusive of some leadership experience in a healthcare, including clinical program development.
    • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of Standards, legislation/regulations pertaining to areas of responsibility.
    • Demonstrated understanding and experience of quality assurance process, program planning and development, application of surveillance and epidemiological data, using electronic systems, spreadsheets, and database programs.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills conducive to interacting in a multidisciplinary environment and relating easily to people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and proven ability to effectively manage human and fiscal resources.
    • Ability to support the growth and professional development of direct reports.
    • Ability to be a positive role model and foster a healthy work environment.
    • Ability to work with a range of stakeholders and build strong relationships.
    • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications and other technology utilized by the NWHU, and Familiarity with public health information systems.
