  • Position Summary:

    Communication Assistant (.35 FTE)

    The candidate’s primary responsibilities will be to schedule and conduct infant hearing screens as outlined through the Ontario Infant Hearing Program guidelines.   Other duties may include preparing and delivering community activities for preschool children. Training will be provided.

    Health Educator (.2 FTE)

    An exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking professional to work with a progressive team that values initiative and innovation. You will work in a self-directed manner within a collaborative multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate chronic disease prevention programs. The position involves extensive community collaboration and mobilization within the service area; recommending and delivering program initiatives based on analysis of data and results; and providing consultation with community members regarding evidence-informed practices which meet program objectives and community needs.

    Parenting Partner (.2FTE)
    Working within a team environment, the ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a Public Health Nurse in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program and will provide information and support to parents through home visiting. The candidate will enhance family functioning by forming a trusting relationship, encouraging problem-solving and referral to existing community services, in addition to a responsibility to teach, mentor, model and coach parents in the areas of positive parenting, child growth and development, solving everyday challenges and connecting with community supports and resources. Other duties include keeping accurate electronic records and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Qualifications:
    • College diploma in community and social services, health and wellness, health education or Early Childhood Education
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
    • Knowledge of health promotion principles, project management and community development.
    • Ability to work with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and the Internet.
    • Practical knowledge and experience in parenting, child development, and helping families cope with a variety of challenges.
    • Good interpersonal skills; caring, supportive and non-judgmental attitude.
    • Ability to work independently and part of as team.
    • Good organizational and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to deal with conflict.
    • Ability to apply basic to intermediate computer and clerical skills to maintain accurate electronic records, perform tasks accurately, effectively and efficiently.
    • The ability to speak and write the language of the community served.
    • Sensitive to cultural diversity.
  • Other:
