Wearing a mask remains a requirement in Ontario

Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) reminds the public that wearing a mask or face covering in enclosed public spaces is a requirement in Ontario. The rule is for anyone in Ontario, including visitors from places where the mandate is not in place.

“At this time, most individuals in the province, whether they are vaccinated or not, must wear a mask when in an enclosed public space”, says Dr. Kit Young Hoon, Medical Officer of Health at NWHU. “The masking requirement applies to out-of-province visitors in addition to residents of Ontario”, says Dr. Young Hoon. Public health experts note that wearing masks, in addition to other prevention measures like physical distancing and proper hand hygiene help to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
