Getting your Flu/COVID-19 vaccine

COVID-19 vaccines are available through your health care provider and some pharmacies. You can find pharmacy locations for COVID-19 vaccine at https://www.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations/.

The Flu and COVID-19 vaccine is available at all NWHU clinics.

Eligibility for Flu/COVID-19 vaccines

COVID-19 vaccines eligibility

COVID-19 vaccines will be available early October for those who are at high-risk or complications or hospitalization due to COVID-19. These priority groups include:

It is recommended that the following individuals who are at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 receive an additional dose of a COVID-19 vaccine this fall:

  • Adults aged 65 years and older
  • Residents of a long-term care homes or other congregate living settings for seniors
  • All children 6 months to 4 years of age
  • All pregnant individuals
  • Individuals in or from First Nations, Métis or Inuit communities
  • Members of racialized and other equity-deserving communities
  • First responders
  • Health care workers
  • Those who have underlying medical conditions that place them at higher risk of severe COVID-19
  • Individuals with significant exposure to birds and mammals

The updated vaccine will be available to all individuals 6 months of age and older starting October 28, 2024.

Flu vaccine eligibility

Starting in early October, flu shots will be available for those who are at high-risk of complications or hospitalization due to influenza. These high-priority groups include:

  • Residents and staff of congregate living settings (e.g. chronic care facilities, retirement homes) 
  • People ≥ 65 years of age 
  • Health care workers 
  • First Responders 
  • All pregnant individuals 
  • All children 6 months to 4 years of age 
  • Individuals who are from a First Nation, Inuit or Métis Community, and/or who self-identify as First Nation, Inuit or Métis, and their household members 
  • Members of racialized and other equity deserving communities 
  • Individuals 6 months of age and older with underlying health conditions 

Starting October 28th flu shots will be available for all individuals 6 months of age and older.
